What an amazing thing Bob Barker did! Bob Barker, retired television host and life-long animal rights activist, recently donated $5Million to the Sea Shepard Conservation Society for a new ship, aptly named the Bob Barker. Best known from their reality series "Whale Wars", Sea Shepard is a group of volunteers led by Captain Paul Watson who go into the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary in Antarctica every year to try and stop the Japanese from illegally slaughtering whales. The sanctuary is a 50 million square kilometer area surrounding Antarctica where the International Whaling Commission has banned all types of whaling. The Japanese claim they are whaling for "research", when in reality they are selling the meat.
Yesterday the other new vessel in the Sea Shepard's fleet, the former global racing boat Ady Gil, was deliberately rammed by the Japanese whaling boat Shonan Maru 2. 6 people were thrown into freezing waters and the boat sunk. Watch the video below.
